ppint. 23rd Nov 2020		(author's initials' spacing has been corrected some time in the intervening two and three quarters years) *nods* but when publishers do not reliably number pages from '1' sequentially through all the pages of their books, sometimes including as many as 16, 32, 48 or perhaps even 64 unnumbered pages as bound-in photographic, map or similar plates, or (relatively recently, and a mostly merkin habit sfaiaa - so far!) excerpts from the next novels in series; do not consistently start numbering the first page in their books, even notionally, in the same numbering sequence, as from the end of the titles, and do not reliably include forwards and introductions or pages bearing advertisements in the numbering... - giving the actual number of pages in an edition of a book may be of use, including in deducing whether the edition has been re-set, or may be a considerably expanded new edition. . .
