| ppint. 16th Dec 2017 | daw books mmpb simultaneous first printings sharing merkin-printed covers reprint collection of four novelettes and five short stories, adds new nf introduction by brian aldiss. cover art by karel thole (unsigned, credited) cover price 95¢ near-meaningless daw books collector no.29° 192pp. (check) including (i-)xi pp. titles, indicia, table-of-contents etc, end p. advertising refer to indicia to determine which you hold: the canadadian-carcassed variant states "first printing, november, 1972" and book printed in canada; and cover printed in usa (which is identical with that of the merkin edition) the wholly merkin-printed variant states "first printing, 1972" ° - these are not and cannot be catalog(ue) numbers, as not only do not all daw books bear these, but some reprints of daw books bear differing collectors numbers from their earlier appearances in daw editions, some the same number, and some simply drop the number without replacing it. nor are all daw books that bear these numbers original to daw books; and some books that are original daw books publications lack a "daw book number"/"daw books collector number". | |
