1st paperback edition. First in a planned series of original novels based upon supporting characters from Doctor Who and their adventures after travelling with the Doctor (ultimately, only three books were published, one of which was a novelization of a spin-off teleplay). This book carried several firsts: it was the first full-length original novel based on the Doctor Who franchise (up to this point they had all been episode adaptations); at 224 pages, it was the first Doctor Who-franchise novel to exceed 200 pages (and the only Target Books imprint release), and it was the first Doctor Who-branded novel in which the Doctor does not actually appear.
