cat# is^W was still wrong and should^W has now been corrected.

daw books mmpb simultaneous first printings sharing merkin-printed covers and

cover art by gino d'achille (credited, art is also signed with gd initials but may be trimmed off)
b+w interior illustration by jack gaughan (uncredited, signed)
near-meaningless daw books collector no. 333
cover price varies:
cover price $2.25 (canadadian- printed carcasses and distributed copies)
cover price $1.95 (wholly merkin-printed and generally-distributed copies)

refer also to indicia, to see if carcass of copy held was canadadian- or merkin- printed.
no priority established, nor liable to be, both bear first printing date & full number-string: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9

undated (12/1980) third printing bears new cat#, new isbn, drops near-meaningless daw books collector no. and indicia printing history number-string: 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 it retains
cover art by gino d'achille retained (as also on the fourth and fifth daw books printings).
(the sixth bears new cover art by martin andrews.)

readers union ltd. h/cvr first printing, first uk edition
for sale to members of the science fiction book club, and to members of other readers union book clubs
not published for sale to the general public nor for sale nor distribution by way of the book trade
(the indica statement is ''produced in 1980 for sale to its members only by the proprietors, readers union limited'' - which would be significantly more limiting than was in fact interpreted, and as stated above...)

cover (d-j) art unsigned, uncredited (a reversed-out design against a monochrome yellow field)
cover (d-j) price (none)
b+w frontispiece by jack gaughan (signed, uncredited; retained from daw books mmpb)
256pp. including titles, indicia etc, 3 blank end pp.
perfectbound onto a backing strip with endpapers between black cloth-covered boards

the cat# was later changed to cat# 5163 but since the cat# is not on the book nor on the dust-jacket...
