| ppint. ● 2nd Nov 2020 | dennis (the hamlyn paperbacks art director) complained/lamented/observed to yr hmbl srppnt., when first i was introduced to him, that no-one had bothered to tell him that ''the florians'' was the first in a series - or he would of course have commissioned the series cover art from one artist, rather than several. and yr hmbl srppnt., of course, had no idea that nobody actually in the editorial department had told dennis - or even known that there was a dennis. (11/2020: nancy says he is/was a dear, and his name was dennis barker.) it wasn't so much ''a steep learning curve'' as ''a discontinuous function'' of the same...
