@David Whiteley, Hi. Some branches had the belly-bands and cards, although I think we had to request them. Thing may have gone awry as the subbing in of stock may well have occurred in the October, when our Ottakar's had just been absorbed into HMV and re-branding as a Waterstones (October 2006). There were also some of the masks around too....The instalments were a good way to read them and I do recall our Penguin rep having a signed set of those.
Illustrations added of ten instalment set, popped back in its shrinkwrap after reading. Also added Waterstones Chapter One sample. This was available free to customers.
First published in the United States of America by Bantam Dell, a division of Random House, Inc August 1st 2006. First published in Great Britain by Viking, October 16th 2006 in ten chapter instalments, by subscription. The single volume was published in hardcover as above, January 25th 2007.
Note: The ten instalments were also shrinkwrapped and used as advance copies to booksellers.
A chapter sample was also used as a trailer for the book to customers of Waterstones Bookshops.
