(1974), q.v. dedication: for elizabeth a. h. green, who will understand the substitution for the violin concerto once rashly promised cover art (reductions of art by colin andrew from 2/1980 new english library p/b overlapped by art by tim white from ''monument'' lloyd biggle (8/1975 & ff.), lain in perspective view upon a monochromatic (black +) red colour reduction of the part of this latter originally used on the back cover) cover price £1.25 (no other prices) sbn 450 04553 6 internally in this novel's indicia publishing history, further stating first nel paperback edition february 1980 new english library / times mirror 414pp. including titles, indicia°° etc, with n.b. each novel separately paginated: ''the light that never was'' 240pp. including 8pp. titles, indicia°° etc, no end pp; ''monument'' 174pp. including 4pp. titles, indicia, sbn etc, no additional end pp. ° - assigned date obtained by interpolation into the rising isbns, cat#s assigned to new english library p/bs of known publication month and year date °° - indicia publishing history data of both refer to them as the february 1980 printings, indicating that this double is an omnibus bind-up probably of unsold, previously unbound signatures of the 2/1980 new english library p/b printings of the separate novels, or from a hurried kludge of a production reprinting both as quickly as possible to help provide urgently-needed additional cash-flow. (whilst it could in theory have been a rebound omnibus made up of stripped or partially-stripped unsold copies/whole copy returns of the single novels, the double p/b's binding shows no sign of this having occurred.)
