ppint. 16th Dec 2021		this book was originated by ace books, who paid the author a flat fee of $1,000 for all rights (plus, he claimed, a handshake agreement to commission any further books in the series from him, if it proved successful - unfortunately, in the classic comment, this verbal agreement proved ''to be worth the paper it was written on''.) michael avallone is on record as having stated ace books did five printings of this mmpb in the first three months - but that all state april, 1965 and give no indication of any subsequent reprinting. (- from ''films into books'' randall d. larson (scarecrow press, ny 1995, pp. 58-62)) there may be some indication of the existence of different printings, if there are end pp. adverts and the blocks for these are themselves dated or numbered - or, of course, if the text and/or any illustrations upon the advertising pp. differ.
