Introduction by Clarence Day, Jr. Gilbert's stage musical partner, Arthur Sullivan, is not credited as the musical score is not included. Not issued with dust jacket. 230 pages.

It was quite popular to publish the stories to operas to both help people understand the action, and also to study the dialogue. Somewhere in this "world" I index a tiny book (easy to carry in the pocket) with the plotlines to 100 operas, intended to help people follow along. Hilariously, though, the book has a bright red cover, making it a bit hard to conceal from others in the audience; at least the Mikado book is dark-covered!



ppint. 13th Sep 2020		pocket-sized (fcvotw) omnibus edition of four plays or opera playscripts; a somewhat strange conceit presumably intended for the tone-deaf light opera/operetta fan, who would not or could not appreciate inclusion of the score...
