I haven't read my Pan paperback edition for years, but I don't recall there being a map in that one. (this comment is from another edition of this book)
First UK paperback edition, though not published until several years after the hardcover (and after the US paperback). The story goes that Fleming didn't care for the book and managed to delay any paperback release in the UK until after his death. No idea if that's true or not, but it is known that when the time came to sell the film rights to EON Productions, Fleming only agreed to sell the title rights, not the story, which is why the 1977 film had nothing to do with the novel (and why Christopher Wood was allowed to write a novelization of his script). For those in the UK who didn't pick up the first hardcover edition in 1962, this ended up being a postscript to the Fleming canon when it finally hit paperback over there.
