ppint. 21st Nov 2017		revised and expanded by john from his 1963 novella, "listen! the stars!", q.v. copies of this edition bearing an n.e.l. oval sticky 25p or 30p price-label were distributed in the uk by new english library, which was a serious mistake, as don wollheim had not acquired uk (&/or commonwealth, excepting presumably canadadian) rights to this novel, and brunner fact & fiction ltd. sued (or threatened to do so). whatever settlement was agreed upon regarding this particular book, and/or john brunner's work, more generally, and whether reaching it involved the services of "my learned friends with real leather black briefcases and very thin watches", n.e.l. ceased distributing any and all daw books in the yuk-of-gb-and-norn-iron.

ppint. 21st Nov 2017		daw books simultaneous mmpb third printings sharing merkin-printed covers near-meaningless daw books collector number dropped from cover, new cover art by frank kelly freas (signed kelly freas, credited) b+w frontispiece by jack gaughan retained from first printings cover price $1.25 144pp. including titles, indicia etc, end pp. advertising refer to indicia to see if carcass of copy held was canadadian- or merkin- printed no priority established nor liable to be; date of publication from locus #180, 10/1975 indica publishing history indicates 3rd printing by dropping 1 & 2 from number string, retrospectively deeming one of the two first printings to've been the second (merkin collectors and bibliographers assume thus to be the canadadian-carcassed variant, and the canadian-carcassed third printing to've been the fourth). (this comment is from another edition of this book)
