This book precedes barcodes and doesn't have an ISBN number, instead it has an SBN number - which is only 9 digits long!
Basically it gives you all you need to know about the Lord Of The Rings, The Hobbit and The Silmarillion.

It collects just about all the known facts, names, foreign words, dates and etymological allusion occurring in his books. NB. This last is taken from the jacket description of the book.

The scans added are of the front cover (Jacket) and spine - the rear is completely black so a waste of a scan.

I have then scanned the front of the book itself, again the back is blank and merely the same red and material as the front cover.

A. with periods as per the cover and most other names in this index; I'm aware UK style is to not always include periods on initials and titles like Dr., but doing so is the standard that this index appears to be following. Followed in 1979 by The New Tolkien Companion, an updated (and retitled) second edition.
