fixbutte 7th Apr 2014		When ...Nothing Like the Sun came out, Sting was at the height of his popularity. The album became his biggest seller, having sold around 11 million copies until 1997, and one of the first fully digital audio recordings (DDD) to achieve multi-platinum status. It was also one of my first CDs (instead of an unhandy double LP in this case) after I had bought a CD player in the autumn of 1987, and I still like this mixture of rock, jazz and Latin music a lot, with Fragile an all-time favorite of mine. Sting's insightful lyrics were partly influenced by the death of his mother in late 1986, and by his participation in the Conspiracy of Hope Tour across Latin America on behalf of Amnesty International.
