Lower East Side Stitches represent New York City's downtown punk rock scene in all its drunken, glue-sniffing glory -- in fact, they remain one of its last authentic voices. On Lower East Side, the Stitches expand on their classic punk sound a bit by adding slightly uncharacteristic (for punk rock, anyway) instrumentation, with successful results -- the caterwauling saxophone on "TV Zoned Out" only enhances that song's sloppy appeal, while the ersatz spaghetti western Spanish guitar/trumpet combination on "Grudge" adds an appropriately tequila-drenched haze to the track. The Stitches are punk purists who nonetheless aren't afraid to take a few chances here and there. ~AllMusic Review by Andy Hinds
