Australian release date was 15th October 1990 - it's in the Platterlog release sheet for that week that I've just uploaded to 45spaces - and IINM it was a worldwide release that day.

The Rhythm Of The Saints may be more consistent than Graceland but on the other side of the coin it was also less varied. Among the heavy percussion it is not easy to trace the sophisticated melodies and lyrics, and even The Obvious Child, which was a chart single, is nothing to hum along. Anyway this was expert music, played by the cream of Afro-Brazilian musicians and a few US guests like J.J. Cale and Michael and Randy Brecker. Although I never disliked it, I didn't hear it very often.

The follow-up to GRACELAND is for me a little more coherent overall, the last two tracks on the previous album didn't really seem to fit with the others somehow. If I recall correctly, release of this album was postponed for a couple of weeks because Paul decided to remix it, but it still sounds a bit murky in places anyway! I wonder if the Columbia reissue has improved the sound at all?
