It's interesting to read (in a German book btw) that The Doors had not sold more than 4.2 million LPs overall in the USA in Jan 1972, and in the the mid-1970s, after their disbanding, they only sold about 100,000 copies per year. In the 1980s, however, they never sold less than 750,000 copies each year (sometimes more than a million), and in 1990 even more than 2 million!

L.A. Woman had been my first-ever LP in 1971, bought some weeks before the death of Jim Morrison. I didn't know much of Morrison then, couldn't even identify which one of the guys on the cover he was, instead I was addicted to the music. Love Her Madly, the first single, was my reason for buying the album, but it was particularly the long songs (the title track and Riders On The Storm) that made my soundtrack of the summer of 1971. This second CD version of Sep 1988 was the first one to be remastered from the original master tapes, so I thought it was about time for an upgrade of my worn-out vinyl album.
