fixbutte 14th Apr 2014		One of the best things of the CD launch was that a lot of albums out of print for decades suddenly became available. I hadn't had the chance to hear much of Frank Sinatra but Strangers In The Night and My Way until the early 1990s when finally all his great albums from the mid-1950s to the mid-1960s, most of them for Capitol Records, were reissued on CD. This one, originally released in 1955, was one of the first concept albums, a melancholy account of the breaking off with Ava Gardner, and one of the first 12" LPs ever released, and it has also become one of my all-time favorite albums. It is remarkable how Sinatra's voice had matured since his days with Tommy Dorsey, and how assuredly it dominates these recordings with Nelson Riddle's imaginative arrangements.
