I'm adding some more scans of a test copy I own of the release.
Again, it was bought from Rob's Record Mart Nottingham, but I thought it was the general release until I got it home and saw the CD, as it was factory sealed when purchased.
Although the track listing shows 27 titles, the CD plays 23 in the same order as the released version. There are a couple of differences in the packaging as well.
The rear insert has a sticker over the bar code and Kev Roberts takes credit for the compilation.
A further difference is in the booklet as the notes are 'gobbledygook' as a mock up of the layout.
ReviewThis groovy little collection was put together by Dave Clark and Simon Licourinos who were involved in running 60s themed nights called "Hipshaker", based in Portsmouth on the south coast of England. The music is aimed very much at the "Mod"/"Scooterist" crowd and listening to this collection is a bit like being transported back to 1966 with music by British Beat Bands rubbing shoulders with US Soul and R&B with the occasional hint of Jazz and Psychedelia.
The insanely catchy instrumental version of Nancy Sinatra's "Boots" hit at track #15 is a particular favourite of mine .....
I've put the catalogue number "GSCD/LP 143" exactly as it appears on the Disc and the packaging, though presumably technically the catalogue number of this is "GSCD 143" and there is a vinyl LP version which is "GSLP 143"?
