YankeeDisc SUBS 17th Jun 2014		...without trying to sound like a know-it-all DTS is just superb. I have a Sony Home theatre set up with 5.1 DTS option, and when you play DTS encoded product (DVD or CD enhanced) the difference between the excellent Dolby Digital 5.1 surround and DTS 5.1 surround is clear, and LOUD. DTS (Digital Theater Sound, Inc.) use far more of the encrypted percentage of the disc for the encoded signal for the sound, and the results are wondrous. Unfortunately with most companies taking the easy option and issuing product in Dolby Digital 5.1 surround, there are few and far between releases, with DTS encoding. DTS product is always worth seeking out, and you will not be disappointed. I did own "Beach Boys - Pet Sounds 5.1 DTS (selected tracks)" and it was emotional, just like being "in the room", sadly it was lost when I moved. I have about a dozen DVD's with DTS encoding, and in one there is a scene in the DVD Tom Hanks starring film "Castaway" which I got from US on DTS, where his plane goes down in the Pacific Ocean, and you ride it it all the way down until it hits the sea, breaks up and sinks, just like that terrible loss of the Malaysian airliner in the southern Indian Ocean east of Western Australia recently, that is still not found. Not a film I would recommend for an in-flight movie by any airline, but it shows just how powerful DTS sound can be with enhanced bass and other frequencies. There is now DTS 6.1 and DTS 7.1, but I'm happy with what I have, anyhow, my ears creak.......lol.



Jock_Girl 5th Jun 2014		While playable using a standard CD or DVD player, unless that device is connected to a 5.1 DTS processor, and then on to the speakers, no sound will be heard.
