@Philmh.You seem to have little faith in Discogs;),personally,i've found them to be fairly reliable whilst adding my collection, and have found them to be in the main, correct.Obviously there are times when they aren't right, but surely the same could be said of this site,i think it's all about getting it right in the end;).I would,of course, always recommend checking other sites/sources to confirm wherever possible;).As i say,i only received this album yesterday, and there wasn't much to go on online (especially with regards to this Japanese release),so i wasn't entirely sure, and frankly, the packaging doesn't help either;).This is what it says on the back of the Digipak,if it's any help at all..."C&P2015/2016 ISO Records, under exclusive license to Columbia Records,a division of Sony Music Entertainment.Manufactured by Sony Music Labels Inc.Japan.(walking-eye logo) is a trademark.Warning all......".As regards the title,i can only confirm that the word "Blackstar" appears nowhere (with relation to the title/track1)(at least,i can't find it;),and that the spines/booklet only have a black star * used to represent the album title and track 01 title. It looks like Discogs is debating whether to use "*" or "* (Blackstar)";)As i say, quite happy for any changes to be made :)
Well, it's the walking eye logo, which I believe is owned by Sony worldwide, but it doesn't actually show the Columbia name! And I wouldn't necessarily trust Discogs to get the label name right - read and weep over their current forum discussion on this album's title!
@PhilMH There are Columbia logo's on the rear of the Digipak, the OBI,and on the CD?.Discogs seems to think so;),(could be wrong of course;).I'm happy however if it needs to be changed :)
Hi Greg, a tiny point of precision is that in Japan, the Columbia name is not owned by Sony, but by Denon (I think Japan is still the last country not to surrender the Columbia name to Sony - I think even Discos Columbia in Spain were eventually persuaded to give it up!), so the labels here should be ISO/Sony rather than ISO/Columbia.
I ordered this late last Sunday night online from Japan, only to awake the next morning to realise the very sad news :(.I was going to get the vinyl version but my "good" turntable broke,so i'm just left with a rather "Tinny" USB turntable at the moment and so didn't think it would do it justice,so went instead for this Japanese "Blu-spec" CD.As i've only just received it this afternoon, and as i haven't yet got a standard CD to compare it to,it's a bit early to say if there is any advantage to be had by having this "Blu-spec" CD,although it does sound great on early impressions. The booklet and much of the Digipak artwork features a High-gloss black on Matt black finish, which renders much of the text quite difficult to read (to these ageing eyes anyhow;),so i've lightened some images, which are essentially black. It really needs a new scanner to get the best out of this one, mine's on it's last legs,so perhaps someone else may have better luck later-on.An interesting parting gift from David, with much to consider.
