Roger Hodgson - In The Eye Of The Storm (1997)
I approached Andrew Garver recently about his digitial remaster of the album, asking if he could remember when the remastering would have taken place.

His response was "I don’t have an exact date for the re-issue of The Eye Of The Storm by Roger Hodgson, but I think it was around 1997.  A&M was making a push to archive masters and part of that was to also re-release CDs.  Hope that helps.  Sorry I don’t have more information for you."

Paul McCartney And Wings - Band On The Run [50th Anniversary Edition] (2024)
Excerpt from MPL and UMe Press Release:

Paul McCartney & Wings
Band on the Run 50th Anniversary Edition
Featuring Previously Unreleased “Underdubbed” Mixes
Coming 2 February 2024

50 years to the week of its original release, MPL and UMe announce the expanded 50th anniversary edition of Paul McCartney & Wings’ iconic Band on the Run, due 2 February 2024.

A fixture of all-time greatest album lists for decades, the multiple GRAMMY-winning #1 smash was originally released in December of 1973. Featuring the immortal title track, worldwide hit Jet, the wistful Bluebird. long-time live staple Let Me Roll It, the multi-faceted Picasso’s Last Words (Drink to Me) and climactic closer Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Five, Band on the Run is undoubtedly Wings’ most successful and celebrated release ever.

A 2CD format will feature the original US album, “underdubbed” mixes, and a double-sided fold-out Polaroid poster taken by Linda McCartney. Band on the Run (Underdubbed) will also be released digitally.

Speaking about the “underdubbed” version, Paul said:

“This is Band on the Run in a way you’ve never heard before. When you are making a song and putting on additional parts, like an extra guitar, that’s an overdub. Well, this version of the album is the opposite, underdubbed.”

Band on the Run (Underdubbed) presents Band on the Run’s nine classic songs for the first time without any orchestral overdubs, available digitally. The previously unreleased rough mixes were created by Geoff Emerick, assisted by Pete Swettenham at AIR Studios, on 14th October 1973. The tracklist, newly ordered as detailed below, mirrors the original analog tapes discovered in the MPL archives.

Finally, Band on the Run will also be available in Dolby ATMOS for the first time, newly mixed by Giles Martin and Steve Orchard.

The Beatles - 25 Chansons D'albums 1963-1964 (2020)
Translated from the inside of the cover:

25 years, 25 songs...

The idea for this album came from the photo on the front: a fascinating image of the Beatles from behind that had never before been used on a record cover. While talking with Michel Laverdière, we had fun putting together titles of their songs that would reflect this. It was by taking part in this fun exercise that we came up with the idea of a CD with pieces from albums or B-sides of singles from the group: an original compilation and very different from what is currently on the market. In addition, it could be a magnificent project to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Beatles Quebec this year.

Without further ado, we proposed our idea to the president of the fan club, Sébastien Tremblay, who joined us for the official selection of songs. We then called on Mathieu Lacourse from Studio Bulldog for the remastering and standardization of the chosen pieces.

To celebrate its 25 years of friendly encounters and many more to come, Beatles Quebec is offering this anthology exclusively to all fans of the most famous Liverpool group.

Good listening !

The Beatles - Slow Down (2023)
Translated from the inside of the cover:

The Beatles' work masterfully illustrates the musical eclecticism of the group's members. They excelled in all registers, both covers and original songs.

If rock and roll was the spark that pushed these 4 young men to embrace the world of music, their culture and musical tastes were varied (skiffle, rhythm and blues, country, jazz, blues, international variety, folk traditional and, of course, rock and roll). The early Beatles learned their trade as a “dance band”. We had to entertain the audience and make them dance.

To do this, these 4 little guys from Liverpool developed a vast repertoire of songs, mainly covers, in all styles, adding a very personal imprint which differentiated them from other groups, whether by the choice of songs or their personalized interpretation.

The Beatles' early records contained several covers that were a hit at their shows. Most of the time, they compared favorably to the original versions and often even surpassed them.

This compilation of covers wonderfully illustrates this exceptional talent as an interpreter of the Beatles. With a masterful sound remastering, these songs shine with new brilliance.

Good listening!

The Beatles - Slow Down (2023)
A new compilation for Beatles Quebec: Slow Down – 21 covers of songs 1963-1964

Beatles Quebec. 2023-02-02

The Beatles Quebec fan club is proud to launch a CD compilation entitled The Beatles – Slow Down 21 covers of songs, 1963-1964. The success of the previous album The Beatles – 25 album songs, 1963-1964 was such that it convinced the Beatles Quebec fan club to do it again with this new compilation.

The Beatles' work masterfully illustrates the musical eclecticism of the group's members. They excelled in all registers, both covers and original songs.

The early Beatles learned their trade as a dance band. They had to entertain the audience and make them dance.

To do this, these 4 little guys from Liverpool developed a vast repertoire of songs, mainly covers, in all styles, adding a very personal imprint which differentiated them from other groups. Whether by the choice of songs or their personalized interpretation.

This compilation of covers perfectly illustrates the Beatles' exceptional interpretive talent. With a masterful sound remastering performed by our friend Mathieu Lacourse of Studio Bulldog, these songs shine with new brilliance. Beatles fans will surprise themselves by rediscovering songs that they have probably already heard and hummed. They will appreciate the energy and vast musical repertoire of Liverpool's most famous band, starting with rhythmic tracks and ending with a remarkable ballad.

The album's edition is limited to 500 copies. It will be possible to obtain a copy during Beatles Quebec fan club events, as well as by pre-sale online in the Shop section of our website.

Shankar Family And Friends - Shankar Family And Friends (2023)
From georgeharrison.com (www link as at 17 June 2023):

Originally released in 1974 by world-renowned Indian musician Ravi Shankar, Shankar Family & Friends was a pioneering album that mixed Eastern and Western styles – fusing together Indian, pop, classical and jazz music. Produced by George Harrison, it combines Western musicians such as Ringo Starr, Billy Preston, Jim Keltner, Klaus Voormann, and Nicky Hopkins side-by-side with Indian-music innovators Alla Rakha, Ashish Khan, Shivkumar Sharma, and Hariprasad Chaurasia. Under the musical direction of Shankar, the large orchestra featured on the album showcases over 30 instruments from the East and West that combined in a ground-breaking way that made it one of the first world music albums ever released.

Containing the first single issued on Dark Horse, “I Am Missing You,” featuring Lakshmi Shankar on vocals backed by a full Western rock band, Shankar Family & Friends has been out of print for many years, until now. Dark Horse Records is proud to present the original album remastered at Abbey Road Studios from the original source masters by Paul Hicks (George Harrison, The Beatles, John Lennon, The Rolling Stones) and reissued for the first time on CD as a standalone release alongside an orchid color vinyl edition.

Recorded at A&M Studios in Los Angeles in April 1973, Shankar Family & Friends marked the first time Harrison and Ravi had collaborated as musicians with Harrison playing acoustic and electric guitar under the name Hari Georgeson. One half of the album comprises instrumentals and songs, while the second half is a thematic ballet to a yet un-staged performance. When asked about the making of the album at the time of the original release, Shankar said: “I’ve written music for many ballets in India. But never, never in the West, with so many Western instruments. This one I did without trying to make it totally Indian at all. I thought of making something very international. That’s why you hear all sorts of sound, starting from sitar or sarod to Moog synthesizer.

“The album contains almost every possible style that you can think of. For many years I was criticized by the purists, but there is much less criticism now, and even if people do it, it doesn’t bother me now. What I think of as new is just supplementing the tradition and adding new flavors – the source is always there.”
