Lee Wrecker 2nd Mar 2018 | | CD AlbumRoxy Music - Roxy Music (1999) | Added CD scan from the Australian issue which has the same actual CD as the EU issue but different packaging (linked below) with no RoxyCD1 cat# on the spine. Some of this series were given a packaging makeover specifically for Australia and some like this copy of "Stranded" which I also own and bought at the same place and time were just released here completely in tact as they were in the EU. That would make those CDs international wouldn't it?

Lee Wrecker 20th Feb 2018 | | CD AlbumThe Beatles - The Beatles In Mono (2009) | Not yet anyway? Shall we get started? Just joking but these later CD Beatles reissues are as bit of a nightmare aren't they? The Mono Masters double CD sums it up nicely with the first CD being on Parlophone and second on Apple and for historical correctness they've even included the USA Capitol label for the Magical Mystery Tour album that was originally only released in the USA. This was the era when the venture capitalists Terra Firma owned EMI but at least they issued releases under the EMI banner and didn't add their own moniker to the mix like Universal has done in recent years. All labels here Parlophone, Apple & Capitol were owned by EMI and should perhaps be included in the label listing.

Lee Wrecker 20th Feb 2018 | | CD AlbumHindu Love Gods - Hindu Love Gods (1990) | The cat# on the packaging here differs from that on the CD which is the same as the linked Giant release 7599-24406-2. The packaging on this Reprise label version lists that cat# as 759924406-2 with no hyphen between the 9 and the 2 and has no references to the Giant label. So, I've added the 759924406-2# as a secondary cat#. I don't know which of these releases on the Reprise (here) or Giant (linked) label was the original issue and which was a re-release. Discogs have a copies of both versions listed but no information on which came first.

Lee Wrecker 19th Feb 2018 | | CD AlbumThe Beatles - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (2017) | The way the Parlophone label has been used in recent years is confounding. It has been traded as an adjunct to EMI and is no longer a part of EMI per se as it traditionally was. So it was owned by Universal when they bought EMI in 2012 but conditions were placed on that acquisition that required Universal to sell off all the Parlophone catalogue except for the Beatles. So now the label is owned by both Universal (The Beatles catalogue) and Warner Music group (the rest). So Universal have the rights to EMI, Parlophone and Apple.
The thirteen digit cat# is the usual format of a modern Parlophone cat# and this appears as a secondary cat# on the linked 2016 David Bowie release. The cat# on this release matches that format but does that make it a Parlophone release? Warners have also leased or licensed out the label to smaller boutique labels such as Music On Vinyl for certain releases and here we see a case of where the Parlophone label is used as a facsimile. But can that be the case here? I'd say no as Universal has the rights to use the Parlophone on its Beatles releases and for whatever reason has chosen to do so in this case.
This looks more like a case of Universal not paying attention to the finer details and mismatching labels, cat#s and distribution companies causing us difficulties determining one from the other. It doesn't matter to Universal they own them all. Even though I prefer Parlophone as the label just because that is what it looks like I can see where the Apple label supporters are coming from. What to do here though has me completely beat and you can see from the links posted above that I have used both methods of entry - Parlophone label as label and Parlophone label as a facsimile in the past.
To confuse things further the label code LC01846 is for Universal Music. So that's no use either in this case.

Lee Wrecker 18th Feb 2018 | | CD AlbumThe Beatles - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (2017) | I'm with you TopPopper it still looks like a Parlophone label to me too. The question is, is it a facsimile or a label. It's a bit daft having an Apple release without the Apple label and then confusing things further by putting it out on a Parlophone label instead. Lots of Beatles CDs have both Parlophone and Apple logos on them and on the packaging. However, this is the first time I've come across one where the label is not what is on the label. Blimey!?

Lee Wrecker 16th Feb 2018 | | CD AlbumCaptain Beefheart - Electricity (1998) | Released in Australia with the same label, barcode and cat#. So that would make this one International according to site policy. This will also likely be the case for all the Camden CD compilations.
|
Lee Wrecker 15th Feb 2018 | | CD AlbumThe Beatles - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (2017) | ..and the label is anything but what actually appears on the label? Still looks like a Parlophone label to me I'm afraid.
|
Lee Wrecker 9th Feb 2018 | | CD AlbumNew Order - Singles (2005) | gregs78s I do the same thing but have been away a bit lately and just thought I'd ask in case I missed anything.
|
Lee Wrecker 6th Feb 2018 | | CD AlbumNew Order - Singles (2005) | I know this is an Australian release but my question is/was "What do we do in cases where the only difference is the sequence of the cat#s?" By this I mean CDs with the same barcode and cat# but where the Australian cat# has no hyphens or spaces. My concern is that even though the numbers may be the same the database won't be able to match cat#s that are written differently. This CD is an example of that type of cat# but has a different barcode which makes it uniquely Australian but that is not always the case.
|
Lee Wrecker 4th Feb 2018 | | CD AlbumNeil Young - Harvest (1985) | Same cat# and no barcode as the original EU release of this which is listed on the site here. If the barcodes are different as gregs78s points out below between the USA and EU editions then we will need three entries for this release. The no barcode, same cat# - International, USA barcode, same cat# and the EU barcode, same cat# edition. The Australian release I posted (and linked) has the same cat# but with no hyphen 22772 and yet again a completely different barcode. Things aren't as simple as they first appear because all of the four CDs mentioned are essentially versions of the same release but the details don't match very well at all.

Lee Wrecker 28th Jan 2018 | | CD AlbumThe Beatles - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (2017) | Listed as on the Apple label but no logos or labels in sight? There are however four discs that are clearly on the Parlophone label. I think that regardless of what it says on the text around the label that mentions Apple that the labels here are Parlophone. The Sleeve Back scans here also list each CD as Parlophone / EMI. Discogs lists this as a Parlophone/Apple/Universal release. Why have we seemed to have shifted these modern Beatles releases of Sgt. Peppers to the Apple label when they are actually made on the Parlophone label? Is there a reason?
|
Lee Wrecker 27th Jan 2018 | | CD AlbumNew Order - Singles (2005) | Linked this Australian copy of "Singles" to the EU variety. Cat#s are nearly the same with the Australian cat# in a string but the same numbers should we do something about this? It's quite common for Australian releases to have the same numbers but different sequencing. The barcodes though on the two CDs are completely different which is a blessing. What do we do in cases where the only difference is the sequence of the cat#s? Currently, I list them as separate releases.

Lee Wrecker 23rd Jan 2018 | | CD AlbumDire Straits - Making Movies (1988) | gregs78s you are indeed right as pictures here reveal the barcode to be a match and not as listed here.
|
Lee Wrecker 20th Jan 2018 | | CD AlbumEinsend - Music For A Lonely Muse (2017) | Still no idea what this is?
|
Lee Wrecker 15th Jan 2018 | | CD AlbumThe Rolling Stones - Another Time, Another Place (2016) | Yes, kab2112 I can see your point but these legal loophole productions are difficult to place within the parameters of the site. It may be an idea to add "Unofficial Release" to the options when entering items because as you say there is a difference between "bootlegs" and "unofficial releases".
|
Lee Wrecker 14th Jan 2018 | | CD AlbumCreedence Clearwater Revival - Chronicle Volume Two (2007) | Is the title "Chronicle Volume 2" or "Chronicle Volume Two" as it appears on the cover and CD label? There are listings for both titles with the same details on the site and we need choose a title and merge this with this entry as they are the same CD.
Merged (mod.edit)

Lee Wrecker 14th Jan 2018 | | CD AlbumCreedence Clearwater Revival - Bayou Country (2002) | Narascalco, eh? An easy typo to make with "N" and "M" next to each other on the keyboard. I'll send a correction.
|
Lee Wrecker 14th Jan 2018 | | CD AlbumThe Rolling Stones - Another Time, Another Place (2016) | Surely this is a bootleg? "This record is not endorsed or associated in any way with the Rolling Stones" is written on the back cover.
|
Lee Wrecker 10th Jan 2018 | | CD AlbumDavid Bowie - Heroes (1999) | I see Monolith is not a fan of this one but I am so I'll rate it slightly (a lot) higher across the board. I suppose Bowie's ambient/industrial/krautrock inspired noodlings aren't for everyone but I like them a lot.
|
Lee Wrecker 1st Jan 2018 | | CD AlbumDavid Gilmour - Live At Pompeii (2017) | You're right rustieneil the label should be Columbia.
|
Lee Wrecker 29th Dec 2017 | | CD AlbumTerence Trent D'Arby - Introducing The Hardline According To Terence Trent D'Arby (1995) | rustieneil the cat# on your CD and spine is CBS 450911 2 not just 450911 2 as it is on the Columbia issue. So different release date, different label and different cat#s all mean these need to be split I think.
|
Lee Wrecker 22nd Dec 2017 | | CD AlbumKinks - Face To Face (1998) | "I'm Not Like Everybody Else " and "Big Black Smoke" must be two of the best "B" sides of a single ever released by anyone.
|
Lee Wrecker 17th Dec 2017 | | CD AlbumEinsend - Music For A Lonely Muse (2017) | Looks to be a MP3, WAV and FLAC digital download after a quick squizz at the net. I was unable to find a hard copy of any description so the question is does it belong here at all?
This is where I have looked here,, here, here, here, and here. The other site has this but that's not any use at all either.
Is it a Meta CD that exists only in the minds of digital downloaders?

Lee Wrecker 13th Dec 2017 | | CD AlbumVarious Artists - Mojo Presents Sgt. Pepper (2007) | ReviewThe best thing about this CD is the artwork. In fact the only thing that makes this marginally better than Robert Stigwood's ill fated 1978 movie version of "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" is that it only has one bonus track. Whereas Stigwood's movie soundtrack has most of "Abbey Road", "Strawberry Fields Forever" and "Get Back" inexplicably thrown into the mix. The bonus track on this CD is "Echo And The Bunnymen's" version of "All You Need Is Love" which is at least more appropriate but certainly not their best work.
The rest of this album follows suit with most of the artists offering up second rate or worse versions of songs from this classic album. What this CD most successfully does is make you want to take it off immediately and hear the original to remind yourself of how it was and should be done.
The two major UK music magazines both revert to this format of recreating classic albums with contemporary artists from time to time but the results are usually/always disastrous as is the case here. Apart from the artwork (10/10) the content here is appalling and a travesty rather than a tribute to a great album.

Lee Wrecker 12th Dec 2017 | | CD AlbumBryan Ferry - The Collection (2004) | Secondary cat#s are different here. Australian inlay has Australian ordering cat# 5775922 and UK has 577 5922. It's a difference and both cat#s have a purpose therefore the cat#s are not identical. I move we split these.

Lee Wrecker 12th Dec 2017 | | CD AlbumAir - Moon Safari (1998) | The Australian Disc I uploaded does not have the UK secondary cat CDV 2848 in the barcode box. What it does have is a different Australian ordering cat# of 8449782 (compare barcode boxes). Unusually, though I've had a look at the spine and the actual disc and the UK cat# CDV 2848 is on both. Is it sloppy artwork or of consequence? Given recent Americanisation of international CDs due to one different cat# (longbox). I think we may have to split these and create an Australian entry on the strength of the Australian ordering cat# of 8449782 . What do you think gregs78s? Or this stuff still in the who knows realm?

Lee Wrecker 10th Dec 2017 | | CD AlbumSuper Furry Animals - Fuzzy Logic (1996) | I think that this and this may well be the same CD. There are a lot of cat#s on this CD (see CD label and inlay) all of which are on this CD and the linked release. There are no pictures on the linked release and Discwrongs have a picture but without the inlay spine so I suspect that these are one and the same release. The barcodes match as well so I propose we merge these two releases.

Lee Wrecker 8th Dec 2017 | | CD AlbumJools Holland And His Rhythm And Blues Orchestra - Jools Holland's Big Band Rhythm And Blues (2001) | kab2112 after Brexit all CDs will be 50p unless the artist is endorsed by Donald Trump. The prices for versions of "Jerusalem" by William Blake/Sir Hubert Parry are currently going into the stratosphere just like price of Bitcoins. We might have to convince The The to re-release "The Mercy Beat" as a free single to counter the trend and restore the natural order of music pricing in the global marketplace.

Lee Wrecker 8th Dec 2017 | | CD AlbumThe Beatles - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (1987) | Did it, perhaps, come in a longbox? Is there some weird Capitol records connection that's only known to Beetlenuts (i.e. contemporaneously listed as a Capitol release in Billboard). These have all been used as points of difference before but with no evidence on hand this is an international CD as gregs78s has pointed out.

Lee Wrecker 8th Dec 2017 | | CD AlbumVarious Artists - The Art Of McCartney (2014) | Only one third of the songs rated higher than 5 according to Quad5point1 and most of those just scraping in as 6's and 7's. Obviously, not the tribute album they intended it to be. Cash in exercises like this rarely come off well.
Anyway, this CD certainly seems to have hit a bum note with you Quad5point1. Perhaps they should have called it the "The Arse Of McCartney". What are you going to do with it now you've entered it? I'm usually too embarrassed to give stuff like this away.
