I came across it in a charity shop the other day, with the cd inside as image at the bottom of page, with an LP gatefold replica design (it has "grooves" on the label side around the "label", and playing side is a black playstation disc), but can't find reference to this disc in this packaging outside this set.

But looking at the mute discography, the cat numbering sequence appears consistent in pattern and style with this, so I think it looks right as is.

Magic Marmalade 11th Aug 2024		CD Album Bangles - Different Light (1986)	And a big hello to all from me :) I'll make the appropriate change tomorrow when I'm on my desktop. (Sitting in the garden with my phone... And a cold beer, right now) I always look for these tell tale signs when looking for first / early press CDs: Obviously, no barcode places it within a year or so of the first compact discs being released, but even before that, on the shelf, the prefix: cdcbs is always a good indicator (although not always, it's a Japan press. But look at the inner ring of the cd for matrix on the first disc image here, and you see the didp number, the 1a1 number, signifying a first press, and the little string of crosses ( sometimes other tiny scratchy symbols), other than the actual Japan only originals, these are the first gen after those for the wider world. If you are so inclined oldmod, take the car apart too and you might find either / or a cat number printed on the reverse of the back cover/ inlay, and if it's the original case too, possibly a patent pending mark on the underside of the grey plastic cd tray.
Magic Marmalade 10th Aug 2024		CD Album Various Artists - 25 Years Of Number 1 Hits Vol. 7 1984-85 (1996)	Orignal entry maker also provided this image, and owns a copy, so assume he made this entry from his copy - it is not present with this cover on Discogs, so will say this is correct, and if not already on site, new entry can be made for other issue. (So please don't add details such as barcode etc. to this in order to make it square with the issue on Discogs, as it may well likely be wrong for this - meantime, a back cover image for this issue would help clarify things.)
Magic Marmalade 3rd Jun 2024		CD Album Beth Orton - Central Reservation (1999)	Review Gentle on my mind. Having recently found myself in need of a lighter brand of more sympathetic music, I revisited this, not being in the frame of mind for my usual brand music, and this was just the ticket, and I. at last, was in a place where I could appreciate it for it's own virtues... ...After the initial grungy, grimy tack: Stolen Car, it kind of floats and weaves, and meanders in that loose, almost ramshackle way reminiscent of Astral Weeks (well, it reminded me of that anyway, in this specific sense. if not musically, or stylistically). and it has a certain grace and elegance to it for all that. A wonderful balm for my aching, wretched being that helped me get on through, and nursed me back to me again, like a collection of timely lullabies and sympathy. Strange how you can own some albums for a while, but just not get into them, until you hit a space in your brain that magically unlocks one day, and admits it into your deeper being. Now an audio feature of my speakers. :) ✔︎ Helpful Review?

Magic Marmalade 16th Apr 2024		CD Album The Wanted - The Wanted (EP) (2012)	This is the kind of thing that makes me want to bang my head on my keyboard: A seven track "EP" with three bonus tracks... so... it's an album then?!!! (Except it isn't, as it explicitly states it's an "EP") DOH!!! Can I get a consensus on this one people... as to where it should go on site?
Magic Marmalade 14th Apr 2024		CD Album Mike Oldfield - Tubular Bells (1983)	Along with targets and other early printed face discs, these Virgin blues (if I may coin the term that way) are another disc I always keep an eye out for when on the hunt... ...Don't think anyone else collects them though, at least not the way people actively look for targets, so it's always nice to find one. (Was over the moon to find an OMD one a couple of months back) ...But watch this space, as these could be a candidate for future collectability.
Magic Marmalade 7th Mar 2024		CD Album George Michael And Queen - Five Live (1993)	I'd like a definitive statement about this... we've had it added as an album many times now, but is, according to my recollection, an E.P., and so should only be in CD singles world, where E.Ps belong. ...But his has an extra track, and the word E.P no longer appears on it, as I believe, the vinyl does. ....So, album or E.P?
Magic Marmalade 28th Feb 2024		CD Album Jellyfish - Bellybutton (1990)	Review Brilliant sunshine indie rock-pop. Essentially, this is the best Squeeze album you've never heard. Wonderful melodic, tuneful story-telling in indie rock-pop format, which absolutely reeks of Squeeze, in the style of Difford & co. I'd listened to a little here and there since ripping it to my mp3 player a while back, and was already familiar with the song: "I Wanna Stay Home" via the version by EG (White), rendered on his album merely as: Stay Home (But much more dynamically, and not as languid and laid back as this original version) but as I had a lot of weeds to dig out from the garden today (it being the first really dry day to do it), I put this on, and listened all the way through, and was pretty much whistling while I worked. I think this is going to grow on me in a big way in the coming months. ✔︎ Helpful Review?

So I assume that is the cover of his copy. ...By replacing that front cover, it seems we may have confused this with another entry which has this (now) lead image. One may be a later repress, with different artwork, albeit with (confusingly) the same details (cat etc.) Could kab enlighten us Please? If so, they may or may not belong on the same page, as merged entries.
Magic Marmalade 18th Nov 2023		CD Album a-ha - Headlines And Deadlines The Hits Of A-Ha (1998)	Also worth noting is the unlikely subject matter one song here, particularly for a band like this: I've Been Losing You ...Very dark topic, and storytelling in what is, essentially, a murder song. In fact, I don't think any have done it darker, all the more so for being wrapped in A-ha's usual melodic, pop brilliance. But I'd suggest searching out the lyrics for it to see exactly what I mean.
Magic Marmalade 18th Nov 2023		CD Album a-ha - Headlines And Deadlines The Hits Of A-Ha (1998)	On a bit of an A-ha / eighties kick at the moment... ...Just occurs to me that an expanded edition of this would be a welcome release for RSD perhaps? Maybe a second disc including the highlights of their career since this release too, as there's some stonkers in their discography in the years since this hey-day of theirs. (Possibly include the earlier versions of Take On Me?) But as it is, this comp is still well worth the money :)
Magic Marmalade 15th Nov 2023		CD Album Laura Marling - Semper Femina (2017)	Review New entry in my top 100 (ish) favourite albums of all time. It's a rare thing for an album that has taken my interest to remain among my favourites, and be one that I return to regularly, but this is one that keeps getting played. While other albums of hers may have greater production value (to use the movie term, for expensive bells and whistles), this is a very stripped down, bare wood affair, which moves, under the slightest variations, seamlessly, and effortlessly between the core styles this uses: bluesy, folksy, slightly california sunshine-ish pop, with a startling intimacy, to a degree that makes it an almost uncomfortably close in listen. Amidst the bare bones, creeking old wooden boat on a lazy river style acoustic weight of the purposely demo like presented instrumentation, and occasionally set against some over-amped grinding blues guitar scrapes; Is Laura Marling's brilliant, and deeply personal, in your ear singing, of simply excellent memorably melodic songs, that need no embellishment... ...All riding over a deep note of melancholy, the sour tone set against the sweet, which is what really keeps me coming back to it. Some might find it drab, or basic, or even depressing, but it's one of those that if you lean in, you can hear much more going on in the almost inaudible emotional frequencies. Would it be too much to say it is the closest I've heard someone come to getting that "Nick Drake quality" in this regard... the something in it... something under it you have to be in tune with, to properly get. As I said, it feels a little too close for comfort in it's intimacy, and gets me feel around my collar at times - "Phew, is it getting hot in here?" Up Close. Personal. And very Feminine, in a way that even a dude, such as I is, can feel is from the deepest recesses of womanly-ness. 1 person found this review helpful. ✔︎ Helpful Review?
