GEMSMFAN 16th Jul 2017		Comments were last posted a few years ago. CD-Video can be played on later model LD players. The best player were the combi's which could play almost everything... LD's / DVD's / CD's / VCD's AND CDV's. They couldn't play the short-lived (CD-G)raphics format, which was a special CD player. The nice thing too was that LD's needed to be flipped over and the combi player had no flip feature. CD-Video was a PolyGram invention. Getting CD digital quality sound on a laserdisc. There were 8" and 12" music laserdiscs that had the "CD-Video" logo. I take "everything" back. I only have 1 CDV. In the U.S. very few of these were released. The ones that existed were pressed in the UK with NTSC standard.



musicmasters 20th Aug 2013		Just to reiterate 78rpm-maniac's comments - CD Video (CDV) is a totally different system to Video CD. The video section on CDV discs can not be played on computer drives (CD-ROM/DVD/Blu-Ray etc.) or DVD/VCD/Blu-Ray players. I have looked for years for a way of playing the videos on a computer but it seems that there isn't a way - I have a vague memory that the CDV video tracks are an analogue system, whereas VCD discs are digital, so these can be easily played. Both are short lived formats and were killed off by DVD, which itself is being killed off by Blu-ray. You may be lucky and find a CDV player for sale on E-Bay, but please be aware that the machine being offered will be at least 20 years old. I have nearly 30 of the CDV singles, the audio tracks on them are still playable, and a few have some tracks that are unique to that disc, and have never been issued anywhere else that I'm aware of...



78rpm-maniac 20th Aug 2013		Hello kollektionist, this CD-V Discs Play the Video on CD-V Players only. On a conventional CD-Player only the three audiotracks are audible, like a conventional Maxi-CD. Pioneer and Sony had a few models of CDV-Players in the Mid-Eighties.
