Hondo (1953) (1953)
Originally a 3D film, which I suppose explains why the title shot looks the way it does (and why it is in 4:3 format).

D.O.A. (Dead On Arrival ) (1950) (1950)
Because the film fell into the public domain, there are numerous lousy DVDs out there. However German Publishers Koch Media GmbH presented a very good copy for their short run Film Noir DVD Collection (title Opfer der Unterwelt - D.O.A.).

Added the title screen from the Koch Media DVD (much sharper).

My Bloody Valentine (1981) (1981)
Some versions of this original film were heavily cut - by the distributors - in order to get a lower rating.
BEWARE SPOILERS: If you want to check out the versions uncut vs rated, then follow this link to the movie censorship website.

Romancing The Stone (1984) (1984)
Note that in order to get a PG rating the BBFC demanded cuts to some scenes particularly near the end of the film where the bad guy gets his hand bitten off by a crocodile, (comic gore really).
Some UK issue DVDs will therefore also be cut, check the rating, if it is rated 12 then it may be OK.

Meantime (1984) (1984)
This was a TV movie and includes Gary Oldman in one of his earliest roles as the bullying friend in high places. Full of witty lines and 'embarrassing situation' humour, here is the first 10 minutes of it:

Sleeper (1973) (1973)
One of my favourite Woody Allen films. The premise of the story allows for some great sight gags and Allen is on top form with a relentless barrage of witty lines raging against the 1970s plastic society from which he has awoken:
“What’s it like to be dead for 200 years?”
“It’s like a weekend in Beverly Hills”

Rambo (2008) (2008)
The first Rambo film was called First Blood, it wasn't a great title to call a film franchise since what would you call the second film..... The second film was called Rambo, or sometimes Rambo - First Blood part 2 ....which is a bit of an oxymoron, well I suppose they had some sense not to call it Second Blood - that would be just too corny.

EDIT: just to add more confusion... the new DVD releases now call the first film Rambo: First Blood, the second film is just Rambo, and the latest film is unimaginatively titled Rambo: Last Blood. ...or something like that.

Toto Le Héros (Toto The Hero) (1991) (1991)
Very entertaining film. There is so much going on and so many sharp twists of the knife in poor Thomas' life that its difficult to write a summary without spoiling the film, in fact I had to edit my review because I'd inadvertently let slip a major surprise in the plot. I cannot even tell you how the story starts because you need to see the film all the way through and then decide for yourself what it was all about. Lets just say the film tells you Thomas' side of the story, and that's Ok because its his life, but whichever way you look at it, and make your own judgements, you will still be entertained.

Short trailer, which doesn't give too much away:

Dying Young (1991) (1991)
Terrible. A film that I was obliged to watch as it was the date's choice and she cried all the way through. I was amused when Julia Roberts struggled to descend the steps to the young man's basement in her high heels and mini dress, I suppose it was a clause in the script to show off her legs but I just thought nurse huh?
