albert 13th Sep 2017 | | CinemaThe Rats (2002) (2002) | The IMDB page shows the DVD box and has a really poor photoshopped rat with red eyes and added dogs teeth. If it was meant to look scary then sorry for laughing.

albert 15th Aug 2017 | | CinemaSole Survivor (1970) (1970) | A major wants-list item for me and many others I suspect, one of those once seen never forgotten movies.
..and now you've read the review you might say, oh yeah THAT movie.
[EDIT] I've just found out that it has been released on Blu-ray !!!
and here is a Wikipedia article on the actual missing bomber Lady Be Good that inspired the story.

albert 23rd Jul 2017 | | CinemaThe Road To God Knows Where (1990) (1990) | This shows what bands have to endure on tour between the actual gigs and is quite an eye-opener.
I saw this at a special preview (at the ICA maybe) when it was first released.

albert 23rd Jul 2017 | | CinemaNick Cave And The Bad Seeds : Live At The Paradiso (1992) (1992) | Whiplash editing on this live concert makes for a tiresome viewing experience, but the music is good.
The additional documentary on the DVD shows what bands have to endure on tour between the actual gigs and is quite an eye-opener.

albert 15th Jun 2017 | | CinemaBlow-Up (1966) (1966) | from JohnPlatt's book 'London Rock Routes' - "an excellent performance by The Yardbirds in a studio mock-up of, oddly enough, the Windsor Ricky Tick, albeit transposed into Oxford Street"

albert 11th May 2017 | | Cinema13 Ghosts (Thirteen Ghosts) (1960) (1960) | Added a pic for the Ghost Viewer I made, though I think the source image was from one included in a video/dvd release of the film.
The gimmick for The Tingler was to wire up some chairs for an electric shock or vibration, William Castle was the king of the gimmicks.
|
albert 1st May 2017 | | Cinema13 Ghosts (Thirteen Ghosts) (1960) (1960) | I had to make my own ghost viewer as my DVD didn't come with one. It was reasonably easy to do after I got hold of red and blue gels and plain card. I just needed to google an image of a ghost viewer, resize the image and print it out twice on card, cut out both images using a knife and sandwich the gels in the correct places held together with glue.
Next project a tingler, or maybe not.

albert 6th Oct 2016 | | CinemaCarry On Cleo (1964) (1964) | Screenplay by Talbot Rothwell. One of the best of the Carry Ons, they re-used the sets from Liz Taylor's Cleopatra which is why it looks kinda familiar.

albert 6th Oct 2016 | | CinemaRevenge Of Billy The Kid (1992) (1992) | A head-on collision between an earthy British comedy and a creature-feature horror results in a messy ending, turning funny haha into funny huh? This film is similar in style to early Peter Jackson ones mixing laughs and gore and is really quite hilarious for those in the mood for some lowbrow British humour. Be prepared for stereotypical depictions of farm yokels, lots of dirt, terrible puns, more dirt, and lard as a lubricant. Trailer, if you dare.
