wax_museum 20th Jan 2025		The Ring [2002] DVD	Rated 7/10 I first saw the Original Japanese version then the Hollywood remake. The original is far better even with the subtitles to contend with. Perhaps it was because it was more creepy the first time, but overall I felt the Japanese actors did it in a less “dramatic frills” way which made it easier to relate to the characters. 1 person found this review helpful. ✔︎ Helpful Review?

edlongus SUBS 18th Jan 2025		Grease VHS	'20th Anniversary Edition' cassette scan added, but the box I purchased it in is different than Bgray1's copy - - mine doesn't have a '20th Anniversary' mention on the front, has a PG rating mention on the back and a different barcode number and slightly different catalog number. Both boxes have a 1998 copyright date on the back. ...I expect the Moderators 2 hide my box scans, since they appear 2 be a different issue/release (I only added them 4 awareness).

Magic Marmalade 3rd Jan 2025		Dreamscape VHS	I noticed this keeps appearing in the top 50 for viewed items on DVD/Blu-ray world on a semi-regular basis, so thought a little note might be in order for the curious: This edition was bought by me sometime in the mid to late nineties - likely late nineties, as it was when DVD was just becoming a thing, and there were huge "dump-'em-all" sales on VHS - in an HMV store in UK. It is the UK cut/edited version, where the scene with the nunchucks appears (or doesn't, in this case) Can't say I've ever seen a copy of this edition, with this artwork for sale ever on ebay, Amazon, or anywhere else, for that matter, so it seems not a lot of them were sold, and it probably wasn't a popular title at the time. (The red dot on the certificate on the spine was put there by my housemate at the time, in order to distinguish the owners of different tapes on a common shelf shared by three of us in the living room... so isn't of any significance to the edition/copy itself... still can't get the bugger off, as I think he used superglue, which I was less than amused by!)

Juke Jules SUBS 1st Jan 2025		The Subject Was Roses DVD	Review Watched this last again night, it was set in 1845 and you'd swear it was made shortly after that. It is tense, with a sense of menace as father, mother and son argue in the family apartment. Patricia Neal's character Nettie is deeply unlikeable, which I take as a sign of a superb performance. She looks deeply haggard, as she would in real life following her recovery from stroke. Martin Sheen (Timmy) is a good facial match for his 'mother', and he and Jack Albertson (John), were also difficult to like. The instrumental music, used sparingly, was scored by Lee Pockriss, and there are two songs, "Who Knows Where the Time Goes?" written by Sandy Denny, and "Albatross", another Denny favourite, were sung by Judy Collins. 1 person found this review helpful. ✔︎ Helpful Review?
