 Added that full page advert and the review. I see the band were on Geffen, then not on Geffen, erm, perhaps coincidentally when Geffen signed Nirvana.

 Talk about hyping a band. This gig (and 2 others) were advertised with a regular sized advert in the inky press, then a week or so later the gigs were advertised with a full page ad (very costly). Well they hadn't sold out any of the small venues, so I guess the idea was bigger ad=more ticket sales.
A review of the gig appeared in the inky press a couple of weeks after, it wasn't the most glowing review though it didn't go so far as to say the band were terrible, ...maybe you were one of the "smattering of moderately curious onlookers". Well, did anyone pay to be there, or were the audience just people who were on the guest list?
Who were The Toll anyway???
