janglepop 1st Oct 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Beatles - Introducing The Beatles | These bootlegs somehow wound up in Wal-Mart's discount LP bins for $3.99 in the early-mid 80's. My copy has the stereophonic banner and black label but plays mono.

janglepop 30th Sep 2017 | | CD AlbumThe Hollies - The Hollies' Greatest Hits | The "American Standard" of the Hollies catalog.. still in print since it was released in 1973.
The first version of this CD released around 1986 was remastered from a poor quality master tape. There are nasty tape drop-outs especially on "Bus Stop" and "He Ain't Heavy". A few years later Epic remastered the album again from a better quality tape but theres no way to tell what CD has it unless you play it.

janglepop 30th Sep 2017 | | CD AlbumThe Who - Magic Bus | This is NOT a live "on tour" album. This was a cash-in album that Decca (USA) cobbled together of some older album tracks, singles, b-sides and UK EP tracks to capitalize on the hit single.
There are two masterings of this CD. The first CD released in 1988 has the usual 80's MCA black print on a sliver disc and uses the original Decca LP master. "Run Run Run" "I Can't Reach You","Our Love Was, Is" and "Magic Bus" appear in stereo, but most of the album is in tinny reprocessed fake stereo.
The later CD with a pink label (shown above) is a newer remaster (maybe 1991?) with these songs in mono and the one you should look for.
BTW This CD is still available in Canada. There's also a more recent digipack CD from Universal Japan. But I dont know what mastering these CD's used.
