russh29 15th Nov 2024		12" Single Bauhaus - Bela Lugosi's Dead	As per loadedcat's comment...the pink version is one of a series of 1988 re-issues (they did black, blue, pink vinyl and a picture disc). They were released on the same catalogue number but with new matrix numbers, the new matrices begin with WEENEY 2 instead of TEENY 2

russh29 1st Nov 2024		Vinyl Album Damien Dempsey - Hold Your Joy	Review It's better than his last album "Soulsun" (although truthfully, that really wouldn't have been difficult) but this is another crushingly disappointing effort from Damo. It's now been 12 years since his last truly great album, 2012's "Almighty Love". "Soulsun", from 2017, sounded like a record made by someone who was struggling to write (bad covers, what felt like outtakes from previous records and re-recordings of old songs) but needed to put an album out. "Hold Your Joy" feels like a record made by someone who has forgotten what made him great. It's weak, where's the warrior abusing his guitar with that boxers right arm, beating his chest in righteous ire. When he does get pumped up it's on the worst song I've ever heard of his (the awful "James McLean") and the less said about "Let It Go" (aka I've got a title and I'm gonna sing it, never mind the lyric) the better. I'll give him "Love Is The Bomb", a beautiful song about his Dad, but it's the last song on an album that runs for over an hour, by the time I got there I was bored. I'll always go see Damo live, it's a life affirming experience, but his records seem to be getting further apart (6 between 2000-2102, 3 in the ensuing 12 years and one of those was duets of his own previously released songs with other artists !) and less and less good. ✔︎ Helpful Review?
russh29 26th Oct 2024		Vinyl Album Nick Drake - Made To Love Magic	Tracks A1, A4, A5, B2 & B5 are stereo remasters from "Time of No Reply" (a 1987 compilation of outtakes and alternative versions of songs) Track A2 is "I Was Made to Love Magic" from "Time of No Reply". It has been sped-up and features a posthumously added string arrangement by Robert Kirby Tracks A3 and A6 are Cambridge-era dormitory demos (possibly Spring 1968) Track A7 is an alternate take from the version originally released on "Time of No Reply" (February 1974) Track B1 is an alternate take from the version originally released on "Five Leaves Left". It features Rebop Kwaku Baah on congas (March 1969) Track B3 is a remastered version of "Voice from the Mountain" from "Time of No Reply" Track B4 features a posthumously added string arrangement by Robert Kirby Track B6 is thought to be the last song Drake recorded (July 1974)
