I am convinced this is a fake. Anyone with the relevant equipment could have made one, dubbed from the 45. (And faded early!) Think about it - after ''Michelle'' more than 2 years earlier, what Beatles 78s have come to light? Answer : So far, none. ... (About 40 years ago I sent a cassette to a company who made acetates of private recordings. I played the disc once, then gave it away to a girlfriend a little later. If it should ever appear again it contains 4 tracks - ''Twist And Shout'' taped from the t.v. screening of the 1965 live film, a Radio Luxembourg ad. for one of Ringo's solo releases, a clip of Kenny Everett talking to John on the Beeb and ... I honestly can't remember the other track.)
Looks as though it doesn't. I've seen 9 *different* copies of R.4949, 7 of 4983, 6 of 5055, 8 of 5084, 4 of 5114, 11 of 5160 (Indians loved their movies!), 4 of 5200, 2 of 5265, 5 of 5305 (ditto!), even SIX different copies of 5389 which appears to be the last one in the R series. "Yellow Sub." is rumoured to exist on 78 but no evidence yet forthcoming. Of the DPE series ''Michelle'' (early 1966) is most likely the last - I've even seen 2 copies of that... ''From Me To You'' does exist in the Philippines series - twice ! 61017 and 8883-1. For what it may be worth, R4949 has 1964 on the label, though later numbers have 1963. ''From Me To You'' possibly just slipped through the net. I'll believe it when I see one.
