| Whyperion SUBS 4th May 2013 | Paul has chosen a selection of internal pages , clearly to show links with our other interests of music ( Dave Clark interview , Discatron , Discotheque on Wednesday and Tom Jones on Friday). For regional issues were the 'general' contents list significantly different. Dont forget the British Newspaper Library (BL) should have copies of all of these , I think they are slowly putting them online. | |
| TopPopper 4th May 2013 | I agree - they should be like alternative editions of the same. Usual process is not to include pages from inside (although personally, I love these!), so just the cover with the region stated on it would normally suffice. I remember in the 1980s living in an area where we could receive Central, Anglia and TVS broadcasts and we had a TV with a tuning knob instead of buttons, so we could scan around and pick them all up. We got to know certain nights, which channel was better - I remember Hill Street Blues was on - different episodes on different nights, at different times, depending which region it was in. We were getting two or three episodes a week. | |
| RadoxTheGreen 14th Apr 2013 | Surely regional variations of a magazine should just be treated as we would with different label pressings of a record on 45 Cat etc. (i.e. enter them as extra images in the existing listing). | |

How to confuse the database , - regional issues - probably in fairness to most magazines there is not much regional variation content Except for TV listings ( particularly those with the IBA/ITV franchises) . While Yorkshire and some others showed Crossroads at 16.30 , I think London had it at 19:00 , for example , and we have mentioned on 45cat some of the regional music shows that never got a national network airing. Cannot remember The Big Valley , maybe that was regional ( but then again I was mostly BBC viewer around this time. | |
