xiphophilos 2nd Dec 2016 | | Music MemorabiliaMajestic - Majestic Record Sleeve (1945) | The Office of Price Administration that enforced ceiling prices (as on this sleeve) during World War Two was dissolved in 1947.

xiphophilos 12th Jun 2016 | | Music MemorabiliaAras Records - Company Sleeve | I have more than a hundred different company sleeves that I'd love to add to a site on 45cat devoted to them. How far are you with the development now?

xiphophilos 11th Jun 2016 | | Music MemorabiliaCapitol - Capitol Record Sleeve (1946) | I've added the back sides of two of my sleeves that have the same front side. The latest records mentioned on the back sides were released in 1946.

xiphophilos 9th Jun 2016 | | Music MemorabiliaRCA/Victor - RCA/Victor Record Sleeve | Since this sleeve promotes RCA's "Magic Brain", it must be from the second half of the 1930s (I've changed the date above accordingly). The first "Magic Brain" came out in 1934. More more info, see here:

xiphophilos 15th May 2016 | | Music MemorabiliaErskine Hawkins - Erskine Hawkins Album For 10" Discs Of P-181 Series | Beautiful album! Still, I wonder if this shouldn't better be uploaded to the 78rpm part of the site, as the still missing entry for RCA-Victor album P-181?
This album was released in 1947 (source).

xiphophilos 15th May 2016 | | Music MemorabiliaColumbia - Columbia Viva Tonal Record Sleeve | The Flag Labels were replaced by a new label design that became the Viva-tonal label in summer 1925, but the actual phrase Viva-tonal does not appear on labels until January 1927 (cf. Mike Sherman, Kurt Nauck, "Note the Notes: An Illustrated History of the Columbia Record Label 1901-1958," page 31).

xiphophilos 15th May 2016 | | Music MemorabiliaColumbia - Columbia Record Sleeve | Columbia introduced its "New Process" records in the spring of 1923, but began to promote them in earnest not before December 1923. That same month, they introduced a new label, the Flag Label, to make the change visible to the consumer.
Columbia boasted that its "New Process" records were "virtually noiseless" since they possessed playing surfaces of "ultra-fine and ultra-smooth material" (cf. Mike Sherman, Kurt Nauck, "Note the Notes: An Illustrated History of the Columbia Record Label 1901-1958," page 30).

xiphophilos 15th May 2016 | | Music MemorabiliaColumbia - Columbia Record Sleeve | Because of the CBS logo, this sleeve is probably from the 1940s rather than the 1930s. CBS acquired the American Record Corporation (including it's Columbia Records label) in December 1938 (cf. Mike Sherman, Kurt Nauck, "Note the Notes: An Illustrated History of the Columbia Record Label 1901-1958," page 34). I've updated the date above accordingly.
