 | annaloog Member since Sep 2012 6608 Points Moderator | Records issued in Taiwan were legally for sale in Taiwan only, and not intended for export, and thus are neither bootlegs or pirates. I gather that they were exported on a one-by-one basis by military personnel during the time that Taiwan was an R+R (rest and recreation) center for those serving in Viet Nam, late 1960s-early 1970s. For whatever reason, the international record companies of the time, EMI, CBS, Polydor, Decca, et al, never established a presence in Taiwan. Judging from the dead wax area of a few of the LPs that I have come across (on First, Crown and other labels) they appear to have been pressed from US metal work, either the mothers or stampers. |
