Interesting contribution. I'm highly interested in the Modern label and have assembled a lot of its releases on RYM, obviously not complete although several numbers don't seem to have been assigned at all, see the big holes on Modern Records, 500 series and 100 series.

What I can say is:
- Your first assumption is correct, i.e. several records originally released on Modern Music were reissued on Modern with the same cat#.
- Your second assumption is not correct. For unknown reasons, Modern (Music) 500 series, in contrast to its 100/200 series, had a 20- prefix from the beginning, continued in the 600/700/800 series until #20-823 but strangely intermitted for numbers 807 to 813 (without prefix). As the prefix was completely abandoned in mid-1951 from #826 (824?) on, I'm sure that Modern #627 is a later variant of Modern #20-627.

As a result I propose that the later releases should be treated as variants of the original issues in both cases.
