	xiphophilos Member since Dec 2013 3357 Points Moderator	Webster's Third New International Dictionary (unabridged edition, 1986) also gives the plural of vinyl as vinyls. I think when you talk about the material, you may want to avoid the plural, but when you talk about vinyl records, there is no reason not to say vinyls. Vinyls may be a bit slangy still, but hey, it's the users that determine what is correct grammar. Languages are not dead artifacts, but continually developing. And that may mean that even the abomination that is the spelling of vinyl as "vynal" (which I see in Craigslist postings all the time) could at some point be adopted as a valid alternative spelling by Merriam Webster (di melius!).
