TMG - Remember for 1940/41 we found a lot of discs were deleted quite quickly, this was as the air raids were stepping up and personnel were tight despite keeping discs coming for morale so I guess new releases got priority. I think also any left over stocks were ground back down for new material / filler for discs.

It looks like the compiler of the book was using some of the same sources others here are quoting. But we have found a few, I thought maybe there would be more in a collection I recently got but I think the spinster they came from for some reason did not keep much of her parent's items - they were from Mitcham and had two moves at least before her and her mum moved to the last flat and her mum died quite quickly after the move. My other collection seemed to be mostly pre WW2 and appeared as a charity donation. Likewise my mum was not really buying records in WW2 , moving around with war work and a bit of informal evacuation, though mum was on winding the gramophone duty on a friday afternoon at her work when folk would bring in their discs to play over the tannoy system
