LaurenceD SUBS 18th Jan 2016		Cassette Album Tom Waits - The Heart Of Saturday Night (1974)	This cassette seems to have been issued quite some time after the release of the LP. Billboard does not list a tape release for this album in 1974.
LaurenceD SUBS 18th Jan 2016		Cassette Album Jimmy Reed - Jimmy Reed At Carnegie Hall (1986)	The track listings shown on the insert and the cassette itself contain an error; tracks 6 (Aw Shucks, Hush Your Mouth) & 18 (Big Boss Man) have been transposed. I have entered the tracks in their actual playing order, which is the same as on the LPs.
LaurenceD SUBS 6th Dec 2015		Cassette Album [no artist listed] - Christmas Accordians (1986)	Somehow in the mastering process, a quite pronounced and disconcerting 'wow' was introduced, which persists throughout the entire tape. This is just the thing to play when some holiday visitors have overstayed their welcome...

LaurenceD SUBS 19th Jul 2015		Cassette Album Jimi Hendrix - Mr. Pitiful (1981)	The other side of the inlay is blank, so what you see here is everything. After poking around a bit, I agree that this should be a Swiss release, manufactured in Germany. Changed accordingly, thanks Nick.
LaurenceD SUBS 20th Jun 2015		Reel-to-Reel Johnny Cash - Johnny Cash At Folsom Prison (1970)	Apologies, the liner notes are printed inside the box, and cannot be scanned. If I can set up some proper lighting, I'll attempt to photograph them. I estimated the date at 1970. This release first appeared in the 7 1/2 IPS format as CQ 1005 in the latter half of 1968. I believe that Columbia started releasing the HC (3 3/4 IPS) format sometime in 1969, but I'm not sure.
LaurenceD SUBS 16th May 2015		Reel-to-Reel The Supremes - The Supremes A' Go-Go	The version of You Can't Hurry Love on this tape is a little different from the LP version. After the first chorus, there is an extra bit where Diana sings "I've Been Waitin' ... I've Been Takin' ...". Otherwise it sounds the same, so I suspect that the extra part was edited out of the final mix. If someone has an 8-track copy, I would be curious as to which version is on there.

The listings on the insert do not, maybe because they came from the 8-track release; Only reason I can think of why "Drinking Wine" would be shown as split across two tracks.

LaurenceD SUBS 9th Sep 2014		4-Track The Who - The Who Sings My Generation (1966)	I'm not positive about the date, but as it was manufactured by Telepro, I think 1966 is most likely, with 1967 also possible. I'm assuming that it contains the same 'reprocessed' stereo tracks (as opposed to mono) as on the Decca 'Stereo' LP, but I cannot confirm as my old Muntz player is on the fritz...

LaurenceD SUBS 25th Aug 2014		Cassette Single Cookie Brown And The L.A. Fans - The Hideo Nomo Song (1995)	This is an adaptation of The Banana Boat Song with new lyrics about the L.A. Dodgers' pitcher. Lyricist Emmett Jones was also known as DJ John Murphy at KZLA-FM Los Angeles, and Cookie Brown was a secretary at that radio station.

LaurenceD SUBS 21st Aug 2014		Cassette Album Jimmy Rogers - Chicago Bound (1990)	"Sloppy Drunk" misspelled as "Sloopy Drunk" on insert. This collection was supplanted by the 1997 2-disc set The Complete Chess Recordings (Chess 50th Anniversary), but it's still definitely worth picking up if you run across a copy.

LaurenceD SUBS 6th Aug 2014		Cassette Album Various Artists - Jim Healy (1994)	Jim Healy passed away on July 22, 1994. He was an institution to Los Angeles sports fans. I knew several people who would arrange their work schedule so that they could be listening to a radio at 5:30 pm every weekday. Many Los Angeles sports and media personalities were interviewed for this tribute, too many to list. Some of the more familiar participants are Tom Lasorda, Vin Scully, Al Michaels, Norm Sherry, Buzzie Bavasi, "Superfan" Ed Bieler, Johnny Grant and Allan Malamud. Plus reminiscences from Patrick Healy (Jim's son), and of course many clips from Healy's show. More info about the tribute can be found here.
LaurenceD SUBS 20th Apr 2014		Reel-to-Reel Pete Seeger - The Bitter And The Sweet (1963)	Since the liner notes were inside the box, I was unable to scan them, so I took photos instead with less-than-spectacular results. I'll try to set up better lighting for my next attempt.

LaurenceD SUBS 30th Mar 2014		Reel-to-Reel Elvis Presley - Pot Luck (1966)	From what I've been able to gather, it looks like RCA Victor did not begin issuing Elvis on reel-to-reel until sometime in 1966, so I have tentatively set this one, along with my other three RCA Victor tapes, to that year. Perhaps there's an expert who knows better.
