Fonda 500 - 8 Bit Sound System (2014)
I've played it now. It's absolutely mental. In a good way. I think.

It sounds like what it says it sounds like!

Note - I believe there is also a hidden surprise on the tape but you need a Spectrum computer to find out what it is...

Fonda 500 - 8 Bit Sound System (2014)
"To celebrate the 15th anniversary of '8 Track Sound System', presented here is a re-imaginisationalism of the original album.

Ever wondered what '8 Track Sound System' would have sounded like if it was recorded using in 1988 using a 128k spectrum? Wonder no longer, friends. The past, the present and the future is here..."
(from Fonda 500's Bandcamp page).

Original "8 Track Sound System" album here on CD Album World.

This cassette release still available to buy via Bandcamp here.

Videoed Cowfish And The Big Disappointments - Aspacetofolkin (1994)
Hull band, later (and still) known as Cowfish. This is an early cassette of theirs.

Great, nice one.

I note the Rights Society on the tape labels is SUISA, which would tend to indicate a Swiss release rather than German. Is there anything on the reverse of the inlay or is everything shown here already?

Could you enter the label as [none] for these jobbies rather than UNKNOWN (cheers).

Reid Anderson - 23 Skidoo EP (2015)
Tonight's launch event has been postponed until May but the tape is available from the label so will leave the release date as it is for now, until a new date is announced at least.

Bobby Brown - Every Little Step (1989)
Jasper, a little tip - if you scan those clear plastic cassettes sideways (i.e. rotate by 90 degrees before scanning), you won't get the reflected lines on the scans. Obviously rotate them back to the correct way round before uploading!

Pat Thompson - Madam On Fitzroy Street (1990)
Yep, understood - it's fine (and correct) to use [none] where there is no obvious label.

Looks quite an interesting album to be fair.

Changed label to [none] - Dolby is a reference to stereo sound, and the cat no DEX is a reference to Dex Audio where the recording was engineered.

This is more of a DIY job so [none] would be about right, unless anyone knows otherwise.

The Choir Of St. Mary's, Beverley - The English Tradition (1992)
Just getting round to adding the scans to this.

St. Mary's is the second largest church in Beverley (East Yorkshire), the first being Beverley Minster. I'm not a religious man (far from it!) but I've been in St Mary's and it's a beautiful building - well worth a visit if you find yourself in the area (as is, of course, the Minster).

Finally added images! If any of our French-speaking users could take a look, I think I have the right artist name but not totally sure...

I haven't listened to this but assume it is religious/devotional music.

David Bowie - Tonight
Clearly this isn't the "Tonight" album as such - it also contains tracks from Bowie's earlier output, including some from the 60s.

The inlay also contains a list of other Bowie albums on 747 (scans to follow).

This cassette (my copy at least) has a gold 747 sticker on the case.

Allen Toussaint Orchestra - 16 Superhero Themes (1989)
Any chance of a pic/scan for this one? I suspect STEMRA is the rights society, not the label.

Look forward to seeing it.

J&B is an Aussie label as well (I think) so I reckon you are spot on. The clues are there as you say!

It has to be UK as per current geography.

"Ireland's Best Singer"... I fear this may be an exaggeration...

That's been suggested and might not be a bad idea. It's up to admin of course but who knows, something along those lines may well happen at some point.

We had a conversation about these on the Mod forum before I added them. Yes, they do belong here, though I take your point about the definition of "album".

As on the other worlds, there is no rule that says we only accept music - spoken word is common throughout all worlds. Clearly audio books are a very specific form of spoken word but nonetheless, there is no reason why they should not be here.

I suppose you could look at it as saying that we are interested in recorded media, not just music, so to ignore these would be to omit a huge part of the database.

They're not "albums" as such, but that's the closest category we have, at the moment.

It appears from the Italian text on the label that this was sold with a magazine (periodico?) called "Live Music".

Does the main image need trimming? The black areas left and right shouldn't be there should they? (Just checking before I butcher it).

Humble Pie - Humble Pie Greatest Hits (1990)
Looks like the label should be Woodford Music which was a Disky label.

Although it's made in Italy it's not an Italian release. Disky is Dutch and independent so perhaps we ought to class this as Dutch also (as we do with Disky CD releases), even though it was probably Europe-wide.

The inlay isn't too tatty! :-)
