Standard UK cassette release, housed in plastic case with fold out J-card.

Originally a 1979 flop, peaking at 42, it wasn't until 2003 when this song was used extensively in Sky Sports advertising, that it saw a new lease of life and became an Official UK Number One single.

mister_tmg 1st Mar 2016		I would imagine that as you could order it from shops like HMV, those few sales would have counted towards its chart performance. I'm not aware of cassette singles ever being excluded from the chart; there was no need for them to be. Record companies stopped making them and shops stopped selling them.
Iggypig 21st Feb 2016		Yes, I saw this a few weeks back and found it very interesting. I had heard some time back that Who's David was released on cassette but had never seen any proof until now. The only thing I would question is whether it was the last number 1.....if cassettes had been discontinued in November, would the 100 copies of Who's David cassette actually count, or was the sales entirely based on CD/download?
mister_tmg 19th Feb 2016		Actually, I've now found out that Busted's "Who's David" was on cassette, and that was February 2004, some months later. But that isn't on this site. Apparently it was limited to 100 copies, so that might explain why isn't on 45worlds yet! Who's David on Discogs Only around 100 copies of this tape were ever produced, as cassettes were officially discontinued from stores on November 17, 2003. That was the day "Jump" by Girls Aloud came out.
mister_tmg 18th Feb 2016		Iggypig, thanks! That was the info I was searching for (the last cassette #1). It's currently the last UK #1 cassette single listed on this site. I used to buy a few to play in the car, especially because they were reduced to clear at very cheap prices once they left the charts. "Jump" isn't on here yet. But it looks like the cassette single was over in the UK by the end of 2003 if that was the last to chart.
