I could not find any reference to it mentioning it as "magazine" or "newspaper". They call it "supplement".
Is it Ok to be here ? Does it fall under "newspaper magazines" ?
They are printed on newspaper paper, but have staples, pages, covers just like normal mags.
Well, they have their own page numbering and their own stapling. If they are inserted into newspaper they may be considered as a section of the newspaper but maybe it can be seen just as a method of distribution. Btw, maybe they were available separately too ? I have no idea: I'm not a UK resident and got both of these G2 issues without any newspapers.
In any case many of newspaper magazines are distributed as supplements, for example, Independent Radar. Where is the line then ? The only difference: Independent Radar is called magazine in some online sources (and it's really thick) but G2 is not.
As you say cvalda44, where is the line? There will be grey areas, and it is good to discuss them so that we can have clearer rules. However in this case, I think it is clear that the G2 is a newsprint newspaper. For instance it is published daily. The Guardian does have a weekly glossy magazine, and that is already on the website:
Regarding newsprint newspapers, there was a decision before to allow music-focused newspapers in, so we have Sounds, Melody Maker and NME here already.
Ok, so what about Independent Radar ? It is weekly and thick, but a newsprint newspaper, but called a magazine, but is a newspaper supplement ;)
If the Independent Radar is a weekly newsprint part of a newpaper, then there is an argument that it shouldn't be here. I don't read The Independent so I can't say for sure. What do others think?
Independent Radar looks really magazine-ish and without internet research i would hardly say it's a "part of a newspaper". Maybe a distinction between newspaper pull-outs and supplements is needed and some loyalty to supplements if possible. If a supplement is called a magazine by authoritative source, is there any good reason why it should be in prohibited area even if it is distributed with newspaper and printed on newsprint ? Many "actual" mags are printed on newsprint as well.
And if a supplement is music-focused documenting them would be great regardless of how they are marketed...

I read the Guardian and it was me that originally added Guardian Weekend and the Guardian Guide. Similarly the Observer Magazine and Observer Food Monthly.
They are presented as standalone magazines, are not newsprint, and not just supplements or subsections of the main paper. Hence they should be here.
For that reason I never included G2 or any of the other newsprint parts of the papers. They are supplements, not magazines (IMO).
Indeed Observer Food Monthly recently did two special editions but they were thin newsprint inserts and I never included them on here. They did not have distinct issue numbers and did not interrupt the regular numbering sequence.
There's a problem, when you collect magazines with specific artist sometimes it is just hard to get any clues, if a nonglossy magazine was a standalone publication or a supplement. Especially if the magazine is old or in a unfamiliar language.
