I might have a bash at the Windows 10 upgrade. Not enamoured with my switch to Windows 8.1, although that's mainly because it wouldn't let me transfer my Adobe Photoshop across without paying for a new licence (which I haven't... so far... I miss not being able to do circular crops though, need that for doing labels).
When you still had PS installed on your previous OS did you de-register it before installing on the new OS?

No, the hard drive died. PShop says its hit the maximum number of allowed installations (I copied it to the work computer and a couple of back up drives). I'll wait until Windows 10 before I do anything about it or I'll only have to go through it all again somewhere down the road. Irfanview with the Pro plugin pack does most of what I need in the meantime. It will do eliptical crops aswell from the paint toolbar but it only gives you one shot at it. Get the size or shape wrong and you have to start the whole thing over from scratch, which gets a bit annoying after a while.

Might be worth de-registering the work instalation (not uninstalling) and then try installing it on the new OS.
