Could someone please explain how to do this. I thought i'd read somewhere in the forum that someone had asked the same question, but can't seem to find it now. I read the adding triple LP infobut that dosen't seem to help. Thanks

Select format "box set" (of course)

Fill in details for the first two LPs as usual, as if it's a double album.

Then type out the rest in the panel in the "contribution notes" box, near the bottom of the page, then when you've uploaded the set, send a change request, asking for the rest of the data to be added in.

Very Annoyed! I have just spent well over an hour typing in a Bill Haley box set as told to above (3 albums worth in the contribution notes box) only for when i tried to upload it a box popped up saying maximum characters=1000 and i'd contributed 3432. What a waste of time. Will not by entering any more box sets i have after that

You can add the record as you've typed it, and add a comment with the extra tracks.

Sorry - I didn't know there was a max limit. Do you still have the typed text saved somewhere?

How did 3 LPs come out at 3,432 characters? That's nearly 1,150 per LP - If the LP has 16 tracks, that's around 70 characters for every song - seems a lot?

I didn't save it unfortunately, and it's a 5 LP box set. 8 of the sides have 10 tracks and the other 2 have 11

Why are we limited to only adding ten track sides?

There has to be a limit of some sort, and ten tracks per side is more than enough for the vast majority of releases.

So as there's no valid answer come my way, i'm guessing that the only way to add a box set is to, (for a 5 LP set) list a double Album x2, and a single album, then put an explanation in the comments box with each entry. Any other suggestions

PM the answer was provided? Enter the record, with just the first two records (four sides) on the initial entry. Then send a Correction Request with the additional tracks listed. Perhaps send more than one request if there is a risk of overrunning the text limit (one record per request maybe).

Once that's done one of us Mods will at some point add the extra detail and make any adjustments that are necessary.

Hope this helps.

N.

Additionally if you are ever worried about typing a big entry, just copy your post onto a word document before you post it. Then if the worst comes to the worst you can simply copy it back over (in sections), nice and easy

10 Track default Limit ?

Checking a few LPs in the pile ( the three box sets I have have 10 records in - that Readers Digest for you ). Most tracks are 6 to 8 for regular issues , but a good few 'value' LPs cram in a lot more - normally 12 a side giving about 36 mins running time.

I'm struggling to think of any LP with more than 20 tracks.

If you have 12 tracks or so it's really no real problem to jot the other two on a comment or correction request, and one of us Mods will add them in.

TopPopper , Is that 20 per album or per side ( we'll find one )
nboldock , there must be a queue , I think I am waiting for one of my submissions to get the extra tracks added.

There is a queue! Nothing wrong with adding a comment to the record, if the corrections haven't been made after a few days!

Yep, as OC says there is indeed a queue of stuff to be done.

Nothing leaves the queue til it is actioned though so rest assured we will get to it eventually. Don't forget we all have day jobs too! :-)

I meant 20 in total. I'm sure there will be some albums with more, but I would think they are very few.
