I just picked up some white label pressings with no sleeves. I have one, plain white labels, which I can't identify. It was pressed at Pye Studios, possibly for the Super Beeb label, although that's not certain. It contains various hits by the original artists.

One side of the LP starts with "Can't Get By Without You" and ends with "Now Is The Time". The other side has "Isn't She Lovely" and others.

Most of the batch I picked up are custom pressings of the BBC vinyl releases of the late-70s - their official LPs compilations linked to Top of the Pops TV show, or Radio 1, etc. These were mainly released on the Super Beeb label, and so this may well be from the same source.

Searching around the net has proved fruitless. Anyone got any ideas?

I notice that the songs you quoted were actually released on the Pye label - sure it wasn't a Pye-specific comp?

Good spot! You may be right - it could be Pye (or Marble Arch). I really don't know. Because Pye issued so much music, Google is no help. I am just hoping someone recognises it.

Can't Get By Without You - The Real Thing and
Now Is The Time is - Jimmy James & The Vagabonds and
David Parton - Isn't She Lovely, as stated all on Pye Records, and all 1976 UK top 5 hits.

Are there no dead wax etchings/stampings?

It may be an end of year compilation.

Thanks for the help. How dumb of me not to check the run-out markings. They show the cat number NSPL 28227 and on that basis I managed to identify it. "18 Smash Hits" on Pye - so that was a spot-on bit of label deduction.

Doesn't seem to be too common - I struggled a bit to find a picture on Google, but located a fuzzy one.

So now I know what it is. Thanks, guys.
