The Tain on UK RCA? shouldn't be Oats, like their first UK singles? The same for their Irish LPs, why Spartan (a distributor I presume) instead of Oats or Horslips Records?
Now I'm Confused, On The Tain release it says on the record label "Manufactured by RCA Limited, Record Division, (England). There is an Irish release which is on Oats without the reference to RCA UK, the question is, when is a UK pressed RCA disc not a UK pressed RCA disc. Even the sleeve carries the RCA logo on the back. I know there's an RCA release of Dancehall Sweethearts with RCA on the front of the sleeve. It's all getting a tad muddled
On further research gathered about the album "The Book Of Invasions - A Celtic Symphony" it was released after the Oats label was wound up. It was released on Horslips Records. You can find the info here http://www.irishrock.org/irodb/bands/horslips.html Scroll down to the entry about "Drive The Cold Winter Away" which was released in 1975 and just a few lines above it you will see mention of the "Oats" label being put to bed. Scroll on down past that album to "The Book Of Invasions" and you will find the various releases of it.
While going through my backlog of magazines I came across an RCA UK advert in the NME which I added to "The Tain" entry. The name RCA is the only prominent name on the advert which is also reflected on the rear of the album and on the label. On the http://www.irishrock.org/irodb/bands/horslips.html website it has "The Tain" listed as RCA / Oats Records so it would appear we were all wrong
