Which is great for the knowledgable, for the ignorant like me where the track lengths vary, the take used changed, or additional tracks on a CD compared with an LP release of same name. |

| mojofilter Member since Jul 2012 1434 Points | Pridesale, the way they have it set up is to only link to identical recordings. An alternate take would not be linked to the released version, so there is no chance of getting the different versions of a song mixed up under the wrong entries. |

For instance, in 45cat.. identical A-sides have been linked to ones with different B-sides. I believe on LP's, links exist where one release has an additional track or one different track. |

| mojofilter Member since Jul 2012 1434 Points | Well then, people are doing it wrong, and it's going to require a lot of work by the staff to clean that problem up, both for entries already made in error, and on an ongoing basis. If only we could make our own corrections, there would be so much less workload for them. |

| cussincarryinon02 Member since May 2014 690 Points Moderator | I have been watching this thread ... and am still waiting for a way to link 78s to 45 and viceversa because this would be immensely useful ! ... it was said that in April there would be some such scheme implemented, what has become of it? Btw, instead of linking (i.e. connecting the databases) couldn't it be simply done by an additional field (like the ones for artist, release date and so on) where one enters the url of the relevant page? This would be much nicer than having to use the comment function. It could look like this in 45cat, for example: Artist: Sister Jessie Mae Renfro Label: Peacock Country: USA Catalogue: 1707 Date: Dec 1952 Format: 7" 78 rpm: http://www.45worlds.com/78rpm/record/1552us And viceversa for the 78 RPM catalogue. Still nicer, the actual URL entered could also be hidden and substituted for by a fixed expression like "Click here" or "Listed in 78 RPM world" (viz. "Listed in 45cat") or something similar ? |
