...This one is super cool and it just arrived in the post yesterday

Martin Denny - Quiet Village

from 1959. Here's some cool back story

First saw a copy come up on eBay a few weeks back. Went for around US$50/ £27/ €33. Well, a girl's gotta eat and with postage it would have been about 25% more.

Then last week -- another copy showed up. Got it for US$20/ £10/ €13 --and with less postage.

No 78 of it in the USA so it is one to boast about!

----what is your latest really cool 78 RPM acquisition?

Amy

4-record set. "Drummin' with Krupa". Pressed on the Columbia label in London, Ontario, Canada, for the Canadian market. Pressed at Sparton Records which did a lot of work for Columbia up until around 1954.
I am guessing it had a press run in the very, very low numbers since Canada was a small country and had a small population at the time.

All 4 records, as well as the cover and sleeves are in very good to exellent condition. The original owner, who I knew quite well and who died just recently, wrote in his immaculate handwriting "Christmas 1946" on one of the sleeves.

The ONLY place I can find mention of this is with the Library of Congress in Washington DC.

If you or anyody else could tell me an easy way to either scan or take pictures of these records (I see that most people just show the labels) I would appreciate that. I have a scanner that works most of the time and of course I can take low-red pix with my phonee or camera. Re: this specific Gene Krupa set, should I do pix of all four discs?

I presume yours are 78s as in Amy's initial post, in which case we are usually only concerned to see the labels, but the full set of eight would be appreciated plus the box for the set - we don't need generic 'company sleeves'.

I recommend you 'add' the set before you do the images, and the format will be 78 'album' ie a set of records. At least you will have made the entry for the set!

When you come to adding the images, scanning is much to be preferred as long as the image is in focus if the records cannot lie flat on the glass. Scan with a resolution of at least 200dpi. There is a page of practical advice which will show up when you start adding images: Image Guide - 78 RPM

I look forward to seeing the set on here
