Is the CD Albums Top 50 list being used to promote CD's that are currently-available at a certain chain of coffee shops? I have noticed the same CD's have stayed in the top 5 for several weeks.
It's all strictly calculated by pageviews. However, if the top 50 has remained static, then perhaps the daily recalculation isn't happening! I'll check.
Is this a true reflection of popularity,or is it affected by people just typing "Starbucks" into a search engine??(in which case it will need looking at).

The Top 50s are based on page views, but much of the site's traffic comes from Google, so it''s possible that's how people arrived on the pages.
That doesn't, however, make the Top 50 inaccurate - it still shows the most viewed pages, how people ended up there is another matter.
We used to see it a lot on 45Cat when Ed bloody Sheeran was frequently in the Top 50 - primarily as a result of people typing his name into Google.
Such is life.
Of course the other thing is that entries often hang around in the Top 50 because people look at the chart and then click on things to see what they are about - thereby giving them a head start on the next day! Also mentioning them in the forum, as here, will give them a boost, so Starb*cks could be around a while yet!
