Doers anyone have information on what appear to be other labels affiliated with K-tel in the 70's.
There are a number that appear to be part of the K-Tel "family", the record numbers fit into the K-Tel numbering scheme, and the companies are all in the same general area of the twin cities (in fact some even have the same address)
Some of the labels in question:
Commonwealth Music
Era (made by Dominion Music)
Lotus
Imperial House
(There may be others)
Curious how these may all fit together, I know there were some financial shenanigans going on in the late 70's which may have been part of it, (and helped lead to their demise in the early 80's, although I understand now they're back in CD's)

It would be good to add some links between these label discographies if you can find further evidence of the relationships. We already have the various national K-tel labels linked together

It's circumstantial evidence, but here's what I've found so far. (I'll be uploading the specific albums probably later today or tomorrow. I'll be using the label name, but I will make a note that these MAY be affiliated with K-Tel)
Era records: Distributed by Dominion Music Inc.
7681 Washington Ave, South,
Minneapolis, MN 55435
Then the plot Thickens:
At 11311 Fifth St. South, Hopkins, MN 55343 we find:
Lotus Records
Era records Distributed by Dominion Music
At 11311 Fifth St, South, Minnetonka., MN 55343 (Minnetonka and Hopkins are adjoining small towns, about 5 miles,/ 8 Km north of that Minneapolis address)
Anyway, at THIS address we find:
Commonwealth Music
It gets better: after the mid 70's K-Tel's address is:
11311 K-Tel Dr.
Minnetonka, MN 55343
looking at Google maps, 5th st. south kind of makes a little swing south west about 100 yards/meters east of where Google puts the K-tel drive address (and when I ask for it in Minnetonka it defaults to Hopkins)
When I enter the 5th. St. south address in Minnetonka, it takes me to exactly the same spot.
I mentioned "Imperial House". I don't have a street address for them but I do show them at PO Box 880, Hopkins, MN 55343
All these releases have numbers that seem to fit seamlessly into the K-Tel
Numbering system (NU 9960, BU 4140, BU 5820 etc. etc.)
I don't have my finger on any at the moment, but I believe I have seen K-Tel CANADA albums with the Dominion and Commonwealth names on them, if I find any I can document I'll let you know.

Now I may caution, the "Era" label marketed by Dominion does NOT appear to be the same as the Era label in the 1950's (most noted for Gogi Grant's albums)

There was another, in Australia K-Tel had a label called "Impact" which, while carrying on the K-Tel traditional line of various-artist compilations, also issued specific artist/group compilations, and though K-Tel did this too, Impact seemingly issued more specific artist/group compilations than various act compilations.

Now, just to make things MORE interesting, I come up with "Excelsior". The sleeves and the typefaces have a distinct "K-Tel look" about them and the street address is 7500 Excelsior Blvd, in Minneapolis, MN which (are you ready?) is also HOPKINS MN. Googling the address puts them about 2 miles/3 Km. east of K-Tel Drive!.
It gets better. The label also says they're part of PICKWICK INTERNATIONAL which opens up a whole 'nother world of possibilities!
(And in the "small world" category, going back to about 1970,I was reading that when K-Tel started out they sold household gadgets {remember the "Veg-a-matic"?} that were supplied by the FATHER of the guy that started RONCO)

Impact was just a spin off of ktel in Australia I don't know how long it lasted though all I know there were a few albums released through that label
There were, at a rough guess, about a dozen or so, made up of specific-artist compilations, with a few various-artist issues here and there. The ratio of various to specific artist issues, I have no idea! And like R.C., I too have no idea of the longevity of the Impact label. Perhaps it's "impact" wasn't as great as K-Tel Australia might've thought it would be.

I mentioned era-Dominion. Here is finally a positive connection http://www.45worlds.com/vinyl/album/bu4560
The disc has a K-Tel label. The sleeve says "Marketed by K-Tel International.", The sleeve also has the "Era" logos at the upper right, front and back.
