I have noticed that Linking in the 78 forum is mostly connecting the same record across geographic boundaries. So the US, UK and French versions from the same record and year.
Is it appropriate to link say a Red Columbia Louis Armstrong back to it's original OKeh release or a 40s jazz club repro/re-issue back to the record it was dubbed from?

If it is the same tracks, absolutely, yes

In a similar vein, in Classical World, I was able to link the same release on two different formats (Jacqueline Du Pre etc.: Sea Pictures)... Vinyl and Cassette,

but the link feature has disappeared when I tried to link two CDs (same format!) together, even though they were the exact same title: Claudio Arrau on Philips Digital CDs.

One is a US copy, the other a European.

I have wondered about this; an aritist discography containing all formats. I didn't think it was going to happen...at least not vinyl page to cassette page, etc, except using the comments box. Is this a THING now?

Not at the moment, except on Classical World which is already multi-format.
